Lake Ray Hubbard….kinda

A couple Saturdays ago, Nat came up with the idea to go “adventuring” and see what nearby Lake Ray Hubbard had to offer.  We packed up the kids and were off!

Without using a GPS, we went down a windy back road and discovered you couldn’t get to the lake that way, but found ourselves some Long Horns to gaze at.

This guy was obviously the outcast sitting under a tree by himself.  His horns aren’t as big as those other ones up the hill.  Poor guy.DSCN7732

There’s nothing better than jamming to some music together!

We made it to the lake and found this fun little park.DSCN7740

Unfortunately, we didn’t realize this lake was non-swimming, so there weren’t any beaches to play on.  Never fear, we took the bridge over the lake and went to Bass Pro Shop.  Why not?

Now they’re real Texans!

It turned out that they were letting kids fish in their pond out front.  We waited for some kids in front of us for.ev.er and they didn’t catch anything.  I wasn’t very hopeful, but after only a few minutes, Adam caught a fish followed shortly by Abby!  They LOVED fishing!

He did not want to touch that fish!DSCN7773

After fishing, we went out to lunch.  We asked for Abby to get half alfredo, half marina on her noodles.  They brought her out two full bowls!  What could a noddle-loving little girl ask for?

We had a fun family day and wore Little Man right out.

The kids were bummed we didn’t get to go to a beach, so we’ve promised them we’ll plan ahead next time and find a lake with a great beach to play on. Smile
