Lake Ray Hubbard….kinda

A couple Saturdays ago, Nat came up with the idea to go “adventuring” and see what nearby Lake Ray Hubbard had to offer.  We packed up the kids and were off!

Without using a GPS, we went down a windy back road and discovered you couldn’t get to the lake that way, but found ourselves some Long Horns to gaze at.

This guy was obviously the outcast sitting under a tree by himself.  His horns aren’t as big as those other ones up the hill.  Poor guy.DSCN7732

There’s nothing better than jamming to some music together!

We made it to the lake and found this fun little park.DSCN7740

Unfortunately, we didn’t realize this lake was non-swimming, so there weren’t any beaches to play on.  Never fear, we took the bridge over the lake and went to Bass Pro Shop.  Why not?

Now they’re real Texans!

It turned out that they were letting kids fish in their pond out front.  We waited for some kids in front of us for.ev.er and they didn’t catch anything.  I wasn’t very hopeful, but after only a few minutes, Adam caught a fish followed shortly by Abby!  They LOVED fishing!

After fishing, we went out to lunch.  We asked for Abby to get half alfredo, half marina on her noodles.  They brought her out two full bowls!  What could a noddle-loving little girl ask for?

We had a fun family day and wore Little Man right out.

The kids were bummed we didn’t get to go to a beach, so we’ve promised them we’ll plan ahead next time and find a lake with a great beach to play on. Smile

Water, Water, Water!

With the temperatures and humidity rising here in Texas, the kids have been enjoying lots of water fun!

Adam and Abby are 3 weeks into swim lessons at an awesome swim school called Aqua-Tots.  We’re going once a week for the foreseeable future.  They are loving it!  I’m hoping to see some good improvement, especially in Adam who is still pretty timid.

All 3 kids are getting a lot of use out of our water table!

And of course, the kiddie pool!

Caleb prefers crawling in and out rather than sitting in the pool because the big kids just can’t seem to not splash the poor baby to death.

We have a splash pad just across the street.  We’ve only been once so far, but I think it’ll be a favorite!

His poor little knees were getting scraped up, but he didn’t seem to mind.  He just wanted to be in the middle of the action!

We have yet to go to the pool in our neighborhood, (or one close by that apparently has a really good, shaded baby pool) because I’m not sure I can handle all 3 kids!  We’ll get there eventually!
