“Uh-oh Wubba”
When Abby was a baby, she decided that the only pacifier should would accept was the green Soothie pacifier that the hospital gives you. I was tired of losing them, having them bounce across the floor, and having to get up 5 times a night to find it in her crib for her. When she was 6 months old, I did a little research, and found the WubbaNub. It is stuffed animal, sewn onto a Soothie pacifier. She LOVED it from the beginning and it made it much easier for her to hold onto and find in her crib in the middle of the night. We called it “Wubby” and she has always called it “Wubba”.
6 months
20 months
The pacifier on her Wubby developed slits and cracks from overuse and from her biting it and yanking it out for fun. She started complaining about it, so I cut it off and sewed up the hole. I wanted to take the opportunity to break her of her pacifier habit, but Nat couldn’t take her crying the first night and gave her an extra Soothie pacifier that we had.
The mean mom that I am, I hid the pacifier the next day and she’s been binky-free for 3 or 4 days now. She only cried the first few times we put her down for naps or bedtime. She would look at her Wubby and said, ‘Uh-oh Wubba”. I taught her to kiss it instead!
She still loves her Wubba! Gosh, she’s getting big!
(And she totally looks like a Shurtleff)

Good Old-Fashioned Fun
1 empty box + 2 mini-screwdrivers = HOURS of fun!
My kids have been poking holes in this box for days now. Sometimes Adam says he’s working on a car, sometimes he’s making dinner, and sometimes he’s digging for buried treasure. Abby just follows along with whatever Big Brother is doing. Hopefully no one loses an eye.
Another plus? This box held a toy cleaning set that Adam got for Christmas when he was 2. I pulled it out of storage for Abby, but Adam has been pretend cleaning ever since. He even said, “Mom, thank you for my new cleaning set!” Uh-huh…sure sweetie…no problem.
